On 12th January 2010, Haiti's presidential palace was destroyed by an earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale that struck the capital and its surroundings. In 2019, an international architectural competition is launched for the reconstruction of the Palace. The Terms of Reference of the competition, among other things, called for an identical reconstruction of the facade of the former Palace.
